Battling Small Business Burnout

You probably haven’t noticed but I’ve been taking a bit of a break from Pretty Content over the last few months.

I spent the last quarter of 2021 planning my goals for the business and making the change to a vintage-inspired designer, and at the beginning of 2022, I launched and was excited to get started.

I hit the ground running and… I tripped.

I had put so much pressure on myself for the rebrand and when I didn’t see the results I wanted right away I was discouraged. This discouragement made my business feel like a chore. And feeling like I was slogging away through tasks made me burn out.

I decided to take a break over the summer to refocus and explore other activities. And I’ve come out the other end, excited again for the next few months in my business.

Of course, not everyone has the luxury of dropping everything and ignoring their business for a few months. But if you feel like you’re approaching burnout, I recommend taking a step back and remembering why you do what you do.

And I do what I do because I love creating and the feeling of helping independent businesses achieve their goals. And I love buying pretty dresses, fancy iced coffee, and getting tattoos.

Now that I am back in my business I am focusing on new organisation systems. I’m also tweaking my own website and brand identity! It feels like a fresh start.

All this to say that I am hopefully on the other side of my burnt-out phase and looking forward to taking on some cosy projects between now and 2023. So if you want to work together get in touch!

And if you’re feeling burnt out, let’s talk about it over on Instagram. I’d love to hear from you in my DMs.

Hi, I'm Aisling!

I’ve spent over a decade working in agencies and startups, designing for different mediums; coding responsive, user-friendly web experiences; and converting customers into loyal audiences. Now, I am so excited to bring those years of experience to your project, and to share some of my insights on this blog!
