An Update!

Hello and welcome back! I’ve had a little bit of a break from this blog the last couple months, and there are lots of good reasons why:

The new Pretty Content website

My biggest project lately has been creating this website! I knew from the beginning that the plan would be to merge this blog with my old design site, provided things went well on the design side of things.

Well, I’m relieved to say that it did! Designing has more or less kept me focused during the pandemic and furlough, and I plan to keep working with fantastic creatives and small business owners in the future to help them define and strengthen their brands, and create gorgeous websites (that are also extremely user friendly and accessible).

I also plan to continue sharing website DIY tips and tricks with you going forward. And anything else creative that springs to mind!

I did want to note that this website, as always, will be a work in progress. Most notably, more case studies will be added soon, which leads me to…

Amazing design clients

I’ve been working with some fabulous design clients over the last few months, including culture writer Clementine Oberst, marketing consultancy Blether Digital, and author Tara Costello of Red Moon Gang – just to name a few!

I am in the process of writing case studies for a few other projects that have either recently launched or are coming soon, so stay tuned!

Upcoming availability

As I mentioned earlier, since March I have been furloughed which afforded me the opportunity to work with so many amazing clients these last few months. However, all strange, life-altering things come to an end, and I will be soon returning to the world of full-time employment.

But never fear! As I said, I want to continue working with creatives and small business owners, so you can still get your hands on some lovely textured, brightly coloured and intricately detailed design.

I will have reduced availability but I am hoping to fit in an average of 2 projects per month. I’m currently booking for September, so take a look through what I offer and get in touch soon!

Thank you for reading!

Welcome to Pretty Content!

Hello and welcome to the Pretty Content blog! I hope this can be a space for creatives, whether professional or hobbyist, to learn a bit more about design, code, and general creativity. Let’s get started!

Hello, I’m Aisling!

It’s said like “Ashleen,” if you were wondering!

I’m a creative designer, coder, and writer, with over a decade of experience as a professional web/app/print designer. Originally from Calgary, Canada, for the last 7 years, I’ve called the beautiful South Coast of England home. I love autumn, musical theatre, and the 1940s. I am an ENFJ, Enneagram 6, and enthusiastic dog person.

I’ve written– no joke– probably over 20 different blogs since I first started one 20 years ago. You may recognise me from one (or all?) of them, like Anthologie, Aisybee, Wanderlustful, or Dreamling.

Creativity, design & being online

All of the blogs listed above firmly fell into the personal/lifestyle category, but I’m back with something with a bit of a more focused niche! I really want to share with you everything I know about design, life online, and being creative!

If that’s still a bit too vague, you can expect things like:

  • How I became a designer (and how you can become one too)
  • Reviews of the different software and services that I use
  • Guides to improving web accessibility on your website
  • How I make pretty things with my iPad Pro
  • My experiences trying new creative activities
  • How you can make your blog even prettier
  • Free resources for your own creative pursuits

It’s a bit of a mixed bag, but hopefully the overarching theme will be fun or educational things you can do in your creative life!

FYI: the name is meant to be a bit of a joke

Yes, I love aesthetically pleasing things. I live and breathe aesthetically pleasing things. I have been a professional designer for over a decade. I love photography and posting pretty things on Instagram!

But the name is also a nod to the side of me that is a little bit sassy. Yes, I am pretty content. Relatively happy. Things could be better, but they could also be a whole lot worse. 💁🏻‍♀️

Grab your favourite hot drink and let’s chat!

I’m that friend that you can always find sitting in a café, working away at her latest project, waiting for you to drop by for a chat. I love talking through problems (and finding solutions!), giving advice, or just having a catch-up.

What I’m trying to say is: if you have any questions about anything I’ve mentioned above, or anything else you want to know about creativity, design and being online, please do ask!

My door/DMs/inbox is always open!
