I've also switched to soy PSL this year and it tasted fantastic. (Have I mentioned we're moving? 😏) We're almost all packed up but it seems we have MUCH more crap than we thought we did, as usual! Trying to remember that movers are trained professional strong people so they won't actually find our boxes to be as heavy as we do. Autumn isn't a season, it's a lifestyle. 💁🏻‍♀️🍂 I am one of those cliché autumn addicts but hear me out! Where I'm from in Canada, autumn is very quick. We practically go from summer to winter in the blink of an eye. One day you're enjoying the colourful leaves and the next day they're GONE because it snowed overnight. So I love English autumns. They're slow and steady and ease you into winter the way autumn is supposed to. And I carry that feeling throughout the year, never giving up my spiced drinks, wearing jumpers until it's way too hot not to, using this mug 365 days a year. This morning, the air is cool but the leaves are still green, and I'm drinking pumpkin spiced coffee. I just finished a bowl of porridge that tasted like a mince pie. One of the things I'm looking forward to when we m One of the things I'm looking forward to when we move (yes, this is an anticipating-my-upcoming-house-move account now) is getting back into a morning routine. It can be tricky when living with multiple people to get into your own morning vibe. You have to keep track of things like who else needs a shower, you can't stumble to the kitchen to make a cup of tea in your underwear, that kind of thing. I used to love getting up super early and sitting on my own in the lounge, just having some quiet time with a hot drink. I also like to feel like I've "accomplished" something before starting my work day. So I'm now trying to think of what I want my new morning routine to look like. I don't want to be frantically getting ready, rushing but still always being late. I want my routine to be slow and relaxing, and to feel like I have everything under control. It really does set the tone for the day. What's your morning routine like? Let's take a moment to appreciate floral ceilings Let's take a moment to appreciate floral ceilings and have a little life update! We're moving in 11 days and I am so excited! We're going to be SUPER central, a 5 minute walk from the seafront, with lots of trendy places around. I'm looking forward to wintery morning walks while the sun rises over the water. 😍 I've ordered a fridge, and a desk, which are somehow equally exciting. My desk is from Made.com so it won't arrive until December but I'm STILL looking forward to it! Also looking forward to: having our own space in general, making elaborate dinners without having to share a kitchen (also: not wondering if I'm going to get sick from gluten in the kitchen), cleaning a bathroom that only 2 people have used instead of 4 🤢, not wearing a bra, looking like trash without feeling awkward about it, having my own office space (!!!), and surrounding myself with decorative items that I like and that belong to me! So it's going to be a busy couple of weeks! This morning I've been thinking of my favourite pl This morning I've been thinking of my favourite places that I haven't been for ages. Firstly, Brighton. I was able to visit a month or so ago, but it's very different from being in the city every day. I'm now at a point where I need to accept that Brighton isn't my home anymore, but I'm not ready! Next up, London. The whole reason I moved to this country in the first place, and somewhere I haven't been since just before lockdown. I miss it so much and I'm so grateful that I was able to have one last visit for my friends' wedding before everything got so intense. Gatwick airport? Hear me out, but I keep having these flashbacks to the airport, being excited to go away or excited to be back in England. Going to some of my favourite places, like Rome or Amsterdam. The anticipation. And obviously, home, Calgary. I haven't been back in over a year and I miss my family and friends. I miss the familiar sights and the nostalgia and also seeing how things have changed! I have no idea when I will be able to visit again and it's very weird to feel cut off from the one place you always thought you'd be able to go, no questions asked! Anyway this has been a soppy post.
